4th Annual Taste of Downtown Hays - October 14, 2008

Ticket holders will once again have the opportunity to select the most “tasteful” business in the Downtown Chestnut Street District.  The Downtown Hays Development Corporation is proud to host the 4th Annual Taste of Downtown Hays from 6 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2008.  Nex-Tech and Nex-Tech Wireless are the official sponsors of this year’s event.

The Taste of Downtown Hays event began four years ago as an opening night event held in conjunction with Key Ingredients, a traveling exhibit hosted by the Hays Public Library. The event was well received and over the past four years the taste experience has grown considerably.

Ticket holders visit each participating location and sample tasty delights which have been prepared for the evening. All items made for this event are either served in a downtown restaurant or one or more of the ingredients can be purchased from a shop in the downtown area. At the end of the night, all taste-testers vote on the ‘tastiest’ downtown business and the winner is awarded the Golden Fork! Last year’s winner was Brunswick Antique Mall who featured BBQ and lemonade.

This year’s participating businesses and menu items are as follows: 
Around the World- whole grain muffins with apricot pumpkin butter
Bildschon Baby- cookies
Bildschon Haus- appetizer cheese balls
Brunswick Antique Mall- Gutch’s appetizers
Café Semolino- house specialty bars
Coffee Rules, assorted coffees and biscotti
Dwayne’s Designs- Zac’s pork loin on sage biscuits
Gella’s Diner & Lb. Brewing Co.- signature appetizers
Gutch’s Bar & Grill- specialty pizza
Kuhn’s Diamond Jewelers- Belgium waffles
Rooftops Restaurant & Lounge- bruschetta with tomato, basil and provolone
Scrapbook Frenzy- Augustine’s Bakery’s famous cake
Tea Rose Inn- breakfast crepes, wine-poached pears and select teas

Tickets for this event are $10 and can be purchased at the downtown Hays banks: Commerce Bank, Emprise Bank, and First National Bank or at the Hays Welcome Center, 2700 Vine Street.
