Chipotle Mexican Grill Event Well Attended

The Chipotle Mexican Grill event held on Wednesday, April 29 at the National Guard Armory Building, 200 Main Street, was a succulent success. People who know and love Chipotle, which serves gourmet burritos, were present as well as several people who have never eaten at a Chipotle.

“All of the burrito reservations sold out in a hurry!” stated Sabrina William, a representative from the Downtown Hays Development Corporation. People were so excited for these burritos that the average wait in line was 45 minutes long. “This was a unique social event for the community and provided a new opportunity for Hays residents to sample new cuisine,” stated William.

This event was a fundraiser for the DHDC and was sponsored by Chipotle.

This unique opportunity was made possible by the grassroots campaign the DHDC began to recruit the hip restaurant to Hays. “Although, Chipotle representatives wouldn’t commit to opening a restaurant in Hays in the immediate future, they were extremely impressed with the turnout at our event,” stated William. 

The DHDC plans to continue grassroots campaign efforts to attract businesses to downtown Hays.
