Coffee Rules Holds St. Patrick's Day Celebration The popular Irish holiday, St. Patrick’s Day, was celebrated at Coffee Rules with traditional bag pipes, shamrocks and green beer. The unique theme leads us to feast in the Irish way, dance to the Irish tunes and look out for leprechauns with pots full of gold. The events for the evening began at 4:00 p.m. with traditional Irish bag pipers. Owner Jason Rule stated, “The bag pipers were outstanding and provided a great sound with a welcomed turnout.” After the serenade of pipers, a dinner consisting of corned beef, cabbage with carrots and corn bread was served. Dinner was followed with the sound of live Celtic music flowing through the night air. “We enjoy keeping with the tradition of celebrating St. Patrick’s Day on the actual day. Some establishments celebrate over the weekend; but we feel the tradition should bring people out during the week,” stated Rule. St. Patrick’s Day started being celebrated in the United States in 1737 in Boston. The holiday has grown tremendously and today the New York City St. Patrick’s Day parade draws more than one million spectators. In the U.S., the holiday is celebrated as a traditional day. However, in Ireland, the day is more of a religious holiday comparable to our Easter and Christmas. No matter the celebration traditions, the holiday should be toasted with a green beer and a smile. “St. Patrick’s Day is a great holiday and we will continue to celebrate it annually here at Coffee Rules!” says, owner Rule. |
