The Rock Good Book Store The Rock Good Book Store, formerly The Good Book Store located at 1012 Main Street, is celebrating 2008 under the new ownership of Jackie Wehrli. When the opportunity to purchase The Good Book Store presented itself to Jackie and her husband Chris, they felt it was something they were called to do. “It is an honor to be a part of the ministry that was started quite some time ago, and continues to grow in the special corner building that has a character of its own,” explained Jackie. “The current and future store is truly an anointed place of much more than just books and gifts. It is a place for anyone, at anytime, for any reason to find God’s Love, refuge, restoration, peace, joy, healing, comfort, common ground, and so much more. One of the biggest benefits of the ownership transition has been the wonderful staff and continued involvement volunteered by the former owner of the store Normadine Noone.” Jackie said she did not want to change the name of the store, but instead wanted it to say something that addressed the needs of current times and generations, which brought her to the name “The Rock Good Book Store.” “The name came to me during one of my daily devotions with Jesus. He is our ROCK and the books, products and services in the store are more than just things to buy. They bring healing, direction, wisdom, understanding, fun, laughs and more to the souls seeking these things,” explained Jackie. Under this newly revised name, Jackie hopes to create a strong, loving, hip new atmosphere where customers, family and friends of all ages can feel welcome to come and study, visit, read, browse or simply get comfort and support. New things to look for while visiting include a lounging or reading area in the front of the store, as well as sitting areas around other parts of the store, where customers can review and enjoy the various products and books that are available. Complimentary coffee will now be offered each day for customers as they are browsing or relaxing in the reading area. In addition, a children’s area has been added where faith based cartoons and movies will be played for the children to enjoy. “We will continue to be very active, involved, and supportive to all of the local and surrounding area churches, bible study groups, youth groups and the Hays community as a whole,” explained Jackie. In the future, a small television will show various faith based programs including music videos. The Rock Good Book Store is also implementing children’s story hour, video reviews, activities and crafts and possibly a local talent night. Customers will still be able to get much of the same merchandise as before, with an increased number of products targeting teenage and college-aged students. “Our merchandise will continue to be centered around Faith and providing the Good News of our Savior to anyone that visits us one way or another,” explained Jackie. As the new owner, Jackie expressed how excited she is to keep The Rock Good Book Store highly involved in the Hays community. The store participated in the downtown promotion or Pound Plunge participants (see Pound Plunge article in this newsletter). As part of that promotion, The Rock Good Book Store will be offering a “Mind, Body, Soul and Spirit” workshop February 1 and 2 where Jackie and her staff will be on hand to offer lifestyle wellness tips, helpful verses, healthy recipes, an overview of resources they offer and much more. Visit The Rock Good Book Store for all the detailed information. “The Rock Good Book Store has so many exciting ideas. We are trusting God to provide what this community needs in His perfect time and are very excited to continue to serve a very unique and chosen community for the true purpose we are all alive. 2008 is the year of new beginnings and we believe Hays has amazing and wonderful blessings in store,” explained Jackie.
