2008 Spring Gallery Walk A record-breaking 30 locations will host art exhibits during the annual Spring Gallery Walk presented by the Hays Arts Council tonight Friday, April 25 from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. Several new locations will join the gallery walk this year including The Dance Studio, located at 1003 Main, featuring works by Leon Staab and Cynthia Lloyd, and Pioneer Photography, located at 115 West 10th Street, who will be featuring works by Dereama Allenbaugh. Other locations that are also new to the gallery walk include Northglen Antiques, located at 801 Main, featuring photography by Chris Cushing and music by Adele Shaver and Coffee Rules Lounge, located at 1011 Elm, featuring works by Eric Montoy. As an annual event, the Spring Gallery Walk is held every year in the Chestnut Street District. For some, the event is a great night for a date with that special someone. For others, the gallery walk is a great evening to spend quality time downtown with family and friends enjoying the music and arts. Kuhn’s Jewelers, Hays Public Library, Café Semolino, Simply Charmed and Emprise Bank are among a long list of other businesses all returning for a great night of celebrating the arts. “With so many businesses involved, it is guaranteed to be a great evening for everyone to be a part of,” explained Brenda Meder, Executive Director of the Hays Arts Council. Though the Spring Gallery Walk takes place predominantly in the downtown area, there are also two locations out of the area participating as well. Bank of Hays, located at 27th and Hall Street, will join the gallery walk by showcasing “The Land @ Peace” by Terri MacDonald and Ellen Veed, and Sternberg Museum, located at 3000 Sternberg Drive, will also be participating featuring photography by Duane Clausen. These two locations will be open for viewing from 5:30-7:00 p.m. During this time, there will be free admission to Sternberg Museum. With so many sites to visit and art to enjoy, you better grab your “comfy” shoes and plan to attend what promises to be an exciting evening in the Chestnut Street District. For a complete list of sites and exhibitions visit the Hays Arts Council located at 112 E. 11th Street.
